Book Review- Safe Haven

If you like Nocholas Sparks you will love this book. I'm a big fan of his writing. Some people don't like reading his books because they are really sad. Which I will agree, some really are. This one however I thought was just right. I did cry a little at the end but it was happy tears. If you know me I'm a bawl baby!! This one is about a lady who is severely abused by her husband. She finds a way to escape and start over. Its a great story about bravery and reaching inside yourself to find your self worth. Its also a love story which I love too!!

Turning 48

Grandpa Lance with his boys

Its been really hard for me to see my parents getting older. You never think its going to happen and then one day you notice little changes. A few more gray hairs here and there. More wrinkles. Then I look in the mirror and think wow!!!! I'm getting older too!!! I even have some grey hair. How scary is that!! So my dad just turned 48 years old. I think he is just hitting his prime. I look at him and think about what a great dad he has been. Sometimes growing up life wasn't always sunshine and rainbows but it was the best they could do. I love and admire my dad very much. Jace and Cade love to go to grandpas and look at his chickens. I hope that there relationship only gets stronger. We went over to there house for a little get together. I love hanging out with my family. We always have such a great time together. We had ribs, which were so good. If you don't believe me refer to the picture above of Jerika chowing down!!! Dad got a new TV and some new hoodies, since Jordan keeps taking his!!hahaha We got him a new coffee machine. The boys had a golfing contest to see who could hit the ball the farthest. Lets just say I tried and it took three swings to even hit it and then it didn't even go far. I don't think ill take up golfing as a career. Grandma and Grandpa Cunningham were there along with Grandma Horrocks. Its always fun to see them. Jared and Aimee and little Easty was there too!! I feed Easty so much ice cream!! Man he is a eater!! I love that little guy!!

Cade turned 2 on September 8th. I really cant believe it has been two years already. I'm so blessed to have him. He is such a sweet spirit. We ended up celebrating his birthday a couple days later so Curt could be with us. He had to go up to North Dakota to do an audit on the Halliburton bulk plant. I was a little stressed getting everything ready. My sister in law Aimee helped me put his fisher price car together. You know those red ones with the yellow top that they push with there feet. She is a wiz at that kind of stuff. So I have to say thank you Aimee!!! You are always such a great help!!! Love ya tons. So we had the whole family over to our house for a Pirate themed party. It was so chaotic that I didn't get many pics which I feel horrible about now. He had a good time playing with his cousins and friends. He got a lot of really cute toys and books and clothes.

I Am Number Four

So this is my first book review. I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore was a really good read. I had just finished reading The Hungar Games series and came across this on a website. It is a sci fi book. I'm not usually a big fan but this one pulled me in. It is an easy read and probably would be considered a young adult book. I loved it all the same. It is about a planet called Lorian that falls under attack. In order to preserve there way of life the send off 9 children and there guardians to earth. The are than number 1-9 and separated. So the book starts with of course number 4 a boy who goes by John. The enemy has to kill them in order because they have a special charm that protects them. He knows 1-3 have been killed and now the enemy is coming after him. It goes on how him and his guardian Henri are on the run trying to stay alive. They end up in a small town in Ohio. They get settled in and actually stay put for the first time in 10 years. John finds friends and a girlfriend which he has never had before. He starts a life of his own for once. Then it gets really good as things develop and the enemy gets closer. I would definitely recommend reading this one. Jessica

Jace's 1st Day of Preschool

Its that time of year again. I was having a really hard time deciding whether or not to put Jace in preschool this year. It would be his second year going. I thought maybe we could do a sport or something else fun to occupy his time. Then my conscience got the better of me. I didn't want to be a bad mom so I enrolled him at First Impressions. We attended the open house which was really cute. The teachers put on a whole Pirate party for them. They got to make a pirate ship and even go a treasure hunt. One thing I am amazed at with Jace is how is isn't shy at all when it comes to social situations. He just walked right in, sat down and acted like these kids have been his friends forever. I hope he keeps up this attitude. I was quite impressed with all the wonderful teachers and the curriculum that they are planning on teaching. He will be all ready for kindergarten next year.
On the first day I took him to school and I will admit I was a little sad. Its hard to see them grow up so fast. On the other hand 3 hours with no Jace! I love the little guy but man I couldn't believe all the cleaning I got done. So any ways when I took him into his classroom, he just walked right in and joined in the activities!! I had to call him back so I could say good bye. I just wanted to hug him and not let go. He on the other hand said "mom don't kiss me, I to big." I grabbed him and gave him a big kiss anyways!!! He had such a good time. He is really excited about learning.

Jace and Cade right before we headed to the school. Cade thought he should be going to school too!! I told him another year and then it would be his time.
